Founded in 2023, Blackdog is a retail interior design firm with headquarters in the DFW area and clients nationwide. From Alaska to Maine, we work within a variety of hybrid architectural styles and challenges to maximize the needs of your store brand, honor the environment and community and create a uniquely designed retail space. 20+ years in the interior design industry streamlines and guides our design process and all trades involved in the build out process.
We work on large scale projects from the ground up, including remodels and new construction, collaborating with your architects, builders, engineers, security teams and other craftsmen throughout the process. We engage in architectural design from the inception of the project to ensure that the collaborative vision is executed appropriately and our retail expertise is infused into the early planning stages.

Melinda/Founder CEO
After years as Design Director for Sungrown Studio, Melinda founded BDRD with a burn to create something fresh. Brand curated designs, unleashed attention to details, and settings that were hybrids of functionality and adventure. She champions the ‘little guys’, the mom and pops she adored growing up in the midwest.
With her 20+ yrs of designing, Melinda has a deep understanding of style, merchandising, historic preservation, consumer behavior as well as internal operations. She is not only an innovative concept designer, but a practical, budget minded implementation expert. From napkin doodles to grand opening, she is known for developing impactful brands, joyful customer experiences and employees who love where they work.
Any free weekend, Melinda loves camping & hiking with her dog, Scotch, her three kiddos & husband. Some of her greatest inspiration has come from staring at the Texas sky in the middle of nowhere.
